Home to America's millionaires and billionaires: Donald Trump, Stephen Schwarzman, Jimmy Buffet, Tiger Woods and Mark Zuckerberg amongst others, Palm Beach is one of the most exclusive towns in the world. While its famous residents are only a part of the allure, the coastal, historical area of Palm Beach appeals to those wanting only the best.
Palm Beach is the easternmost town in Florida, located on a 16-mile long barrier island that occupies all of 10.4 square miles or 27 square kilometers. Most of the area is water with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west. The land comprises only a third of the total area. With land being rather scarce, real estate and properties on the island of Palm Beach are extraordinarily valuable.
The town was incorporated on April of 1911 after Henry Flagler established the resort town. The Breakers Hotel, which was the nucleus of the community, still stands as the landmark of Palm Beach.
